The First Piano Edition of ‘Neapolitan Masters Competition’ was held at the Conservatory of Naples from 5 to 9 December 2018, it was accredited at the Alink-Argerich Foundation and had over 100 pianists who sent the inscription all around the world. The winners won these following prizes: some grants, concerts all around the world, and the agreement with the most important agency.

After the great success in Europe, from 7th to 9th  February 2020 the Asian Edition will be held in Kuala Lumpur – Malaysia.

Objectives of the Competition

  1. To raise the performance standard of piano students
  2. To provide a platform for international exchange through the Competition
  3. To support promising and budding musicians in fulfilling their career aspirations
  4. To give more exposure opportunities for international piano students to reach a wider audience.

Categories

  • Group A: those under 10 years old
  • Group B: those from 11 years old to 15 years old
  • Group C: those from 15 years old and above

This Competition is intended for non-professional pianists only.

Repertoire Requirements

  • Group A: free repertoire up to a maximum of 5 minutes
  • Group B: free repertoire up to a maximum of 10 minutes
  • Group C: free repertoire up to a maximum of 15 minutes

Entry

  1. You have to apply through Trinity School of Music, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia by 24th January, 2020.
  2. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.
  3. If you need to change your repertoire, you must notify the organiser by email on or before 31st January,2020. Changes made after this date will not be considered.

Further Information

  1. The registration fee will not be refunded except the Competition is cancelled.
  2. The organiser will decide the competitors’ order of performance.
  3. The organiser has the right to disqualify competitors who arrive later than the scheduled time given to them for the Competition.
  4. The organiser will not be responsible for any on-site practice arrangement.
  5. The organiser will notify you as soon as possible concerning with your acceptance of entries.

Arrangements Made by the Competitors:

  1. Competitors accepted for the Competition are responsible for their travel arrangements and expenses.
  2. Competitors need to arrange accommodation by themselves.
  3. For competitors under the age of 18, he/she must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
  4. We recommend all competitors to arrive at Kuala Lumpur at least one day before the Competition.
  5. Competitors requiring visas to enter Malaysia should consult the nearest Malaysian Consulate for advice.

Additional Rules

  1. Memorisation is encouraged but not mandatory.
  2. Repeats should not be played with the exception of Da Capo and Dal Segno
  3. The Competition is open to all nationalities from all countries in the world
  4. The Organiser expects the competitors to dress neatly and suitably for the Competition

Adjudication:

  1. The Adjudicating panel will consist of eminent pianists, professors of high esteem
  2. The first, second and third prize winners of all categories will be determined and announced at the end of the session
  3. Three international academic judges will be responsible for judging the Competition in Malaysia in 2020. They are:
  • Luciano Ruotolo (Pianist, Artistic Director, Manager, Teacher)
  • Giuseppe Devastato (Pianist, Composer,  Artistic Director,  Teacher) 
  • Anthony Tam (Teacher, Artistic Director of Asia Editon)

Prizes

The Top three winners of each category will receive a plate and certificate.

At the same time, the top three winners of each category are invited to go to Naples, Italy to compete in the Neapolitan Masters Competition in late 2020.

The other competitors will receive a Certificate of Participation.
